High-quality power connections for industrial applications and electrical installations

Power connections are essential components in electrical engineering that ensure the reliable transmission of electrical energy between different devices and systems. They consist of flexible cables that are used in a wide range of applications, from industry to transformers and medium-voltage systems. The task of these connections is to transmit electrical power stably and efficiently while withstanding the mechanical requirements.

In cooperation with International Wire Europe, Rotima AG offers high-quality, braided power connections that are optimized for a wide range of applications. These flexible connections are made of fine or standardized wire diameters, providing the perfect technical solution that maximizes both the operating conditions and the service life of the connection.

Our current connections are used in many critical applications such as industrial furnaces, electrolysis furnaces, medium-voltage systems or transformers. We offer standardized cross-sections from 60 mm² to 2000 mm² and supply you with the right products for your specific requirements.

Thanks to high-quality materials, such as copper tubes with tin or silver coating, and innovative production techniques such as braze welding, our current connections offer excellent corrosion resistance and thus guarantee a long service life with minimal maintenance. You can rely on the quality and reliability of our products, which have been developed in close cooperation with International Wire Europe.

Structure and function of power connections in electronics

Current connections in electronics consist of wire braids made from either flat or round wires with fine diameters (0.10 mm - AWG 38) or standard diameters (0.20 mm - AWG 32). This flexibility allows easy adaptation to different operating conditions and applications. Connecting elements such as copper tubes are coated with tin or silver to optimize conductivity and prevent corrosion.

Fusion welding is used where necessary to improve contact quality and increase reliability. This technique reduces contact resistance and prevents the absorption of moisture, thus minimizing the risk of corrosion of the connections. These current connections are used in demanding areas such as medium-voltage systems, transformers or industrial furnaces, where high load capacity and a long service life are required.

Further information on power connections

In the following FAQ section you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions on the subject of power connections. We answer technical details, possible applications and the advantages of our flexible connections, which are used in electrical engineering, particularly in areas such as industrial furnaces, medium-voltage systems and transformers.

What are power connections and what are they used for?

Power connections are special cable connections used in electrical engineering to transmit electrical energy efficiently and reliably. They consist of flexible, flat or round braided copper wires.

They are used in a variety of applications, e.g. in industrial furnaces, electrolysis tanks, medium-voltage systems and transformers.

The flexible wire meshes enable optimum adaptation to different mechanical and electrical requirements. Thanks to their high flexibility and resistance to mechanical stress, they are particularly suitable for areas where conventional rigid cables cannot be used effectively.

What are the advantages of current connections with Braze welding technology?

Braze welding technology is used to improve the contact surfaces of electrical connections. This technique reduces the contact resistance and ensures more efficient electrical conductivity.

It also prevents the absorption of moisture and thus minimizes the risk of corrosion. Particularly in demanding applications such as medium-voltage systems or transformers, braze welding ensures that the connections function reliably even under extreme operating conditions. The improved contact quality resulting from braze welding leads to higher efficiency, reduces maintenance costs and increases the service life of the connections, which reduces operating costs in the long term.

How do power connections differ in the electronics industry?

In the electronics industry, various types of current connectors are used, which differ mainly in terms of wire diameter, flexibility and material composition.

Current connectors from INTERNATIONAL WIRE, for example, offer a choice of wire diameters from 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm, making them suitable for both finer and larger applications. Flat or round wire braids can be selected depending on the mechanical strength and electrical performance requirements.

In addition, to optimize conductivity and corrosion resistance, connecting wires are manufactured from copper tubes with tin or silver plating. This variety of options makes it possible to find the ideal connection solution for different electronic applications.

Why are current connections in transformers so important?

In transformers, current connections are crucial for efficient current transmission between the transformer and the connected bus sections. They must remain stable under high loads and different operating voltages.

Flexible power connections from INTERNATIONAL WIRE offer the necessary flexibility to compensate for the mechanical stresses that occur during operation. Their high current carrying capacity, coupled with high resistance to environmental influences such as moisture and corrosion, make them the ideal choice for use in transformers. Thanks to braze welding technology, contact resistance is minimized, ensuring optimum transformer performance and efficiency.

What materials are used for power connections?

Copper and tin-plated or silver-plated materials are mainly used for electrical connections. Copper offers excellent electrical conductivity, which is essential for efficient power transmission. To prevent wear due to corrosion, the contact surfaces of the connections are often coated with tin, silver or other metals.

These coatings not only increase the service life of the connections, but also improve the contact quality and prevent the formation of corrosion layers. In some applications, solder welding is also used to ensure a particularly stable connection that works reliably even in extreme environments such as medium-voltage systems or industrial furnaces.
