Silicone hoses from ROTIMA

The silicone tubing range at Rotima AG offers a versatile selection for a wide variety of applications. Customers looking for special sizes such as 1 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 16 mm, as well as silicone tubing for medical applications or silicone tubing with a hardness of 60 Shore will find what they are looking for here.

We cover inner diameters from 1.0 mm up to 20.0 mm and thus cater to a wide range of requirements.

We are also able to meet even more specific requirements outside this standard range:

We offer thinner inner diameters and other sizes up to 25 millimeters as well as wall thicknesses up to 5 millimeters.

Our customers therefore benefit from exceptional flexibility and a range that is precisely tailored to their individual needs.

All ROTIMA silicone hoses are REACH and RoHS compliant.

Our silicone hoses are designed for the transportation of gases and liquids, including the transfer of weakly acidic substances and alkalis. They are particularly suitable for use in clean rooms. Depending on your requirements, you can choose between silicone tubing for high-tech applications in the medical field as medical tubing, for demanding use in the pharmaceutical and food industries and for industrial purposes.

The strength of the silicone tubing is specified in Shore units. Their standard translucent transparent coloring allows easy visual inspection of the flow rate. While tubing for the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors is peroxide-cured, platinum-cured silicone tubing is used for the medical sector to minimize unwanted by-products and abrasion of microparticles inside the tubing.

Our range of electrical insulating tapes:

Our range of electrical insulation tapes includes a wide range of high quality products suitable for a variety of electrical insulation requirements. We place great emphasis on the quality and reliability of our electrical insulation tapes to ensure that they meet the needs of the electrical industry.

Further information on silicone hoses

Discover here questions about the use of silicone tubing in electronics with detailed and understandable answers. Silicone tubing in electrical engineering is flexible, heat-resistant tubing that is used to protect and insulate electrical cables and connections.

What are silicone hoses and what are they used for?

Silicone hoses are flexible hoses made of silicone material. Silicone is a synthetic polymer based on silicon, oxygen, carbon and hydrogen atoms. Silicone hoses have a high temperature resistance, chemical resistance and are very flexible.

They are used in various industries, such as the food industry, medical technology, the automotive industry and the chemical industry. Here are some examples of their use:

1. food industry: silicone tubing is used in food processing to transport food safely, e.g. milk, juice or beer. They are tasteless, hygienic and meet the requirements of food standards.

2. medical technology: In medicine, silicone tubes are used for various applications, such as in catheters, tubes for blood transfusions or in dialysis.

3. automotive industry: Silicone hoses are used in vehicles for various purposes, such as in cooling and heating systems, air conditioning systems or as lines for fuels or oils. They are resistant to heat and cold and offer good resistance to chemicals and wear.

4. chemical industry: In the chemical industry, silicone hoses are used for the transportation of chemicals or as protective hoses. They are resistant to many chemicals and offer high heat resistance.

The use of silicone hoses offers many advantages, such as high flexibility, resistance to heat and cold, durability and chemical resistance.

What properties make silicone hoses particularly suitable for certain applications?

Silicone hoses are characterized by a variety of properties that make them particularly suitable for certain applications:

1. temperature resistance: silicone hoses can withstand extreme temperatures, both high and low. They can withstand temperatures from -60°C to +200°C or even higher, depending on the quality of the silicone.

2. flexibility: Silicone tubing is very flexible and can be easily bent and molded without compromising its structure or performance. This allows for easy installation and adaptation to complex piping systems.

3. chemical resistance: Silicone tubing is resistant to a wide range of chemicals such as acids, bases, solvents, oils and greases. They can also withstand certain food and beverage applications.

4. hygienic properties: Silicone tubing is non-porous and has a smooth surface that makes it difficult for bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms to grow. They are easy to clean and sterilize, making them suitable for medical and pharmaceutical applications.

5. electrical insulation: silicone tubing has good electrical insulation properties, making it suitable for applications in the electronics and electrical industries.

6. ageing resistance: Silicone tubing is resistant to UV radiation, ozone and weathering. They retain their elasticity and flexibility over a long period of time, which increases their service life.

7. transparent or colored options: Silicone tubing is available in transparent or various color options, which facilitates its use in applications where visibility or color coding is required.

Due to their excellent properties, silicone tubing, such as Silicone Tubing 3mm or Silicone Tubing White, is often used in areas such as food processing, the medical and pharmaceutical industries, the automotive industry, the electronics industry and other demanding applications. Nitrile tubing is also used in a variety of industries.

How are silicone hoses manufactured and what materials are used?

Silicone tubing is manufactured through a process called extrusion. This involves forcing liquid silicone rubber material through a special machine called an extruder. The extruder has a screw that pushes the liquid silicone material through a nozzle, creating the desired shape of the tubing.

The main materials used in the production of silicone tubing are silicone rubber and various additives. Silicone rubber is a flexible and durable material that remains stable at high temperatures and has good chemical resistance. There are different types of silicone rubber, which are selected according to the requirements of the hose.

In addition to the silicone rubber, various additives can be added to the material to improve certain properties of the silicone hose. These include, for example, stabilizers to increase ageing resistance, dyes to colour the hose and fillers to improve the mechanical properties.

After the extrusion process, the silicone hoses are often subjected to a further step, such as cross-linking or vulcanization, to further improve the physical properties of the material. This process increases the durability and heat resistance of the tubing.

In summary, silicone hoses are manufactured by extruding liquid silicone rubber material using various additives to achieve the desired properties of the hose.
