Design and function of radial electrolytic capacitors

Radial electrolytic capacitors consist of two conductive electrodes that are separated from each other by an electrolyte. The anode is based on an aluminium foil with an oxidized layer as the dielectric, while the cathode usually consists of a conductive liquid or gel. This design enables high capacitance values in a compact size.
