Heat-shrink tubing, halogen-free, thin-walled

Heat-shrink tubing, halogen-free, thin-walled
The halogen-free thin-walled heat-shrink tubing GTI 3000 is a highly flexible heat-shrink tubing made of polyolefin, without hot-melt adhesive. The main area of application is the electrical insulation and marking of connections for cables and wires, providing a smooth, shiny surface.
Halogen-free heat-shrink tubing is manufactured without the use of the elements chlorine, fluorine, iodine and bromine. Halogen-free heat-shrink tubing is used in particular where the highest personal protection regulations apply or where high property values are involved. Halogen-free is particularly important in public areas because cables, wires and heat-shrink tubing containing halogens can release hydrochloric acid into the body when inhaled in the event of a fire, which can lead to life-threatening situations. Halogen-free heat-shrinkable tubing is the focus for high safety requirements or high property values and is ideal for use in smoke-sensitive areas such as public buildings or buildings with high concentrations of people, hospitals and school buildings. Halogen-free shrink tubing is also used in data centers, elevator systems, means of transport, tunnel systems or in military applications such as tanks and submarines.

Heat-shrink tubing super-thin rigid PVC Kopalon for battery packs

Heat-shrink tubing super-thin rigid PVC Kopalon for battery packs
The Kopalon shrink tubing for battery packs is made of very thin rigid PVC. As an actual battery shrink sleeve, it is ideal for assembling battery packs or as insulation and mechanical protection for windings, as a coating for capacitors and transistors whose operating temperature does not exceed 90°C. Particularly suitable for small to super-large battery packs and battery packs.
In contrast to radiation cross-linked shrink tubing, Kopalon has no "shape memory" which allows the tubing to shrink to a predetermined circular dimension. This means that the shrink force decreases as the diameter is reduced. When selecting the size, it is therefore important to ensure that the diameter before shrinking is no more than about 30% larger than that of the object to be covered. The shrinking force of the copalon is then sufficient to enclose the object with a smooth and tight-fitting skin. The copalon shrinks slowly at around 50°C. For a fast shrinking process, a maximum temperature of 100°C is recommended. Depending on the application, hot air appliances, heating cabinets, continuous ovens and ring heaters can be used as heat sources. The shrink sleeve can be stored well at normal room temperature (below 20°C). However, it must be protected from direct sunlight.

Standard colors: colored or crystal clear
Delivery form: on a roll in flat width or cut to size as required
Approval: UL 224 VW-1 on request

Shrink tubing to special dimensions

Heat-shrink tubing for trade and industry
Cutting heat-shrink tubing to special dimensions: We cut and assemble all heat-shrink tubing, special heat-shrink tubing and technical tubing for our customers. If cutting is required, the order can be outsourced to ROTIMA in order to protect the customer's own in-house capacities or simply make use of our expanded production capacity for rapid delivery within 1 - 5 working days.

Shrink tubing is available as standard on rolls or by the meter. In practice, however, shrink tubing blanks with special dimensions are also required, which are used and installed in series and in a uniform special length.
Cuts in many thicknesses to individual special lengths from 3 mm

We cut thin-walled and medium-walled shrink tubing from a diameter of 1 millimeter up to 10 centimeters according to customer requirements and even with the smallest batch size from a length of 3 millimeters. The cutting tolerance is determined by the customer. Our minimum cutting tolerance is +/- 0.25 millimeters. We measure tolerances with calipers or microscopically to an accuracy of 0.01 mm. Test reports can be supplied on request.

Unwinding and rewinding of shrink tubing

We have four of our own cutting machines as well as rewinding and winding stations. As a special feature, we can also cut tubing at an angle, check the dimensional accuracy microscopically and provide test reports. Unwinding from the mother reel and rewinding onto baby reels is also possible, as is additional repackaging of the end reel. The usual lengths of baby rolls on the market are 8 meters and 10 meters. However, there are no limits for customized and other lengths.

Machinery and production environment

ROTIMA shrink tubing is cut to the required special dimensions on four different machines at the company's own production facility in Stäfa. The machinery is regularly maintained and calibrated in order to meet the precise dimensional specifications of our customers without errors. We attach great importance to cleanliness and a clean production environment. We also carry out orders with antistatic specifications.

Batch sizes of shrink tubing blanks

There are virtually no limits to batch sizes. We carry out cutting orders from as little as 1 piece and also produce series in the millions.

Kitting, assembly and packaging

We assemble both single-variety heat-shrink tubing and different lengths and colors of heat-shrink tubing into practical sets. The usual primary packaging is the practical transparent pressure seal bag, which is provided with the article and dimensional data. On request, we can use antistatic bags or customer-specific packaging materials.

Cable sleeves for labeling

An individually designed and labeled cable grommet is used for clear cable identification. These cable labels are permanent and easy to read. The markings are highly resistant to chemicals, oils and solvents. Cable markings are available from a minimum dimension of 20 millimetres.

Discover everything you need to know and comprehensive information about heat shrink tubing, its many applications and the different versions available for your individual requirements on our website.

What are shrink tubes and what are they used for?

Shrink tubing is flexible plastic tubing that shrinks when heated. They are often made of polyolefin, but can also be made of other materials such as PVC or fluoropolymers.

Heat-shrink tubing is used to insulate and protect electrical connections. When the heat shrink tubing is heated, it shrinks and fits snugly around the object it encases. This forms a waterproof and insulating layer around the connection. Heat-shrink tubing is used, for example, in the wiring of electrical appliances, in the automotive industry, in the installation of electrical cables and in the electronics industry.

In addition, heat-shrink tubing can also be used to bundle cables, to mark cables or to protect them from mechanical stress. They are available in different sizes and colors to meet individual requirements.

How do shrink sleeves work and how are they used?

Heat-shrink tubing consists of a thermoplastic material that shrinks when heated. They are used to insulate and protect cables and other electrical connections.

The application of heat-shrink tubing is relatively simple. First, the heat-shrink tubing is slipped over the cable or connection to be insulated. The heat shrink tubing is then heated with a hot air gun or other heat source. During heating, the tubing shrinks and fits snugly around the cable or connection. This creates an insulating layer that protects against moisture, dirt and mechanical stress.

There are different types of heat shrink tubing with different shrink rates and shrink temperatures. It is important to select the right heat shrink tubing for the application in question to ensure optimum insulation and reliable protection.

How-To: Shrink the heat shrink tubing correctly!

Shrinking heat shrink tubing correctly is not that difficult if you know what is important. With the right technique and the right tools, cables and connections can be safely insulated and protected. We have some information here on how to shrink heat shrink tubing correctly and which heat shrink tubing shrink temperature should be observed.

Before the heat shrink tubing can be shrunk properly, good preparation is crucial. First, the shrink tubing is cut to the right length. It should be slightly longer than the area that is to be insulated. This ensures that the ends of the cable are also well protected. The surface of the cable must be clean and dry. Dirt or moisture can prevent the heat shrink tubing from adhering properly.

The right shrink temperature is crucial for shrinking the heat shrink tubing correctly. The temperature of the heat shrink tubing depends on the material. Polyolefin shrink tubing, for example, requires a shrink temperature of between 90 and 120 degrees Celsius. However, there are also shrink sleeves that require higher temperatures, such as Teflon variants.
The best way to achieve the right temperature for the shrink tubing is to use a hot air dryer or hot air blower. This allows the temperature to be precisely controlled and prevents the tubing from overheating.

There are a few common mistakes that should not be made when shrinking heat shrink tubing. One of the most common mistakes is the wrong shrink temperature. If the heat shrink tubing is overheated, it can tear or melt. If the temperature is too low, it will not shrink completely and will sit loosely on the cable.
Uneven heat distribution also means that the tubing does not shrink properly. The hot air blower must therefore be moved evenly.
